Obituary: Arnold Robert Emil Wodill Jr., age 86

Arnold Robert Emil Wodill Jr., age 86 of Beaver Dam, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 13, 2018.

Arnie was born in Beaver Dam on December 20, 1931, and was raised on a farm south of town. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School, where he met the love of his life, Betty Jane (Prieve) Wodill. They were married on April 28, 1951. Arnie was drafted into the Army later in 1951, and served on the front line in Korea for 18 months.

After the Army, Arnie served in the Reserves for 11 years as a First Sergeant. During that time, he also drove semi. He later purchased and operated a Shell service station in Beaver Dam. In 1988, he and Betty purchased Rustic Woods campground in Waupaca, and ran it for the next 11 years.  After selling the campground, they moved back to Beaver Dam, and he drove bus throughout the remaining years of his career. Arnie was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed sports such as bowling, softball, golf, and playing cards. He and Betty enjoyed many years camping and traveling across the country in their RV. 

He was preceded in death by his son Richard; his parents, Arnold and Olga (Poetter) Wodill; his sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Bruce Zillhart; brother, Ralph Wodill; nieces, Vicky and Bonnie Zillhart; and grandchild, Austin Jeche. 

Arnie is survived by his wife Betty Wodill of Beaver Dam; daughters, Cathy (Wodill) Boyle and husband Timothy of Fond du Lac, Sheryl Wodill and Russell Watson of San Diego, and Laurie (Wodill) and Steven Jeche of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Brooke Boyle-Schneider and Bob Schneider, and Alex, Taylor, and Brandon Jeche; and greatgrandchild, Kabrea Treleven. 

A service to celebrate Arnie’s life will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Stratman officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at Cornerstone prior to the service, beginning at 4:00 p.m. A luncheon will be served at Cornerstone following the service.Private family inurnment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens.
