Obituary: Lester Dewey Tiede

Lester Dewey Tiede, age 92 of Portage and formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Divine Savior Healthcare.

Lester was born on August 16, 1922 in Middleton, the son of Stella (Asmundson) and Hollister C. Tiede. He married Josephine H. Struck on June 21, 1947. Lester served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was in Japan for awhile. He worked as a farmer, prison guard, factory worker, maintenance man and various other things. He really enjoyed telling jokes and had many pet dogs over the years. Lester and Josephine enjoyed square dancing, playing cards and traveling with their RV friends.

Lester is survived by his wife of 67 years, Josephine; his children, Carolyn (Dennis) Bush and Eugene (Evelyn) Tiede; six grandsons, Jeff (Jolie) Bush, Craig (Kozue) Bush, Dale (Angie) Bush, Larry (Barb) Tiede, Michael (Yuri) Tiede and Russell Tiede; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Keegan, Aika, Mika, Reika, Hannah, Madilyn, Sasha and Victor; and a brother, Howard Tiede.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Sterling and Donald; his sister-in-law, Ronna Tiede and grandson, Matthew Bush.

A Memorial Gathering for Lester will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam. Rev. Mark Jensen will officiate. Military honors will take place immediately following the service at Cornerstone, followed by a luncheon.
