Oscar C. Haldemann, age 82, of Middleton, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at VA Hospital in Madison.

Oscar was born on December 4, 1930 in Mapleton, WI to Christian and Rosa (nee Eicher) Haldemann. He attended Columbia County grade schools and graduated from Fall River High School, where he played football. Oscar proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning a Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, as well as a United Nations Service Medal. Following his military service, he worked as a painter for Statz and Harrop and later was a self-employed cabinetmaker.

Oscar was a member of Middleton Community United Church of Christ and treasured spending time with his extended family. As an avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching his nephew Dennis Haldemann race cars and had a passion for baseball, especially the Milwaukee Brewers. He also liked bowling, hunting, fishing, flower gardening and snowmobiling. He took great pride in his hundreds of woodworking projects that he made over the years.

Oscar is survived by his brother, Edward (Delores) Haldemann of Beaver Dam, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Otto (Ruth) Haldemann, Gertrude (Arnold) Guse, Rosa (Archie) Hustad, Della (Elmer) Schultz and Edgar Haldemann; his niece, Donna Guse and his nephews, Robert Guse and Dennis Haldemann.

A Memorial Service for Oscar will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam. A Memorial Gathering will take place prior to the service at Cornerstone, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place at Middleton Junction Cemetery at a later date.
