Obituary: Cordula L. Dykstra

Cordula L. Dykstra, age 93 of Friesland, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

Cordula was born on March 22, 1921, the daughter of Walter and Rose (Koeller) Treptow in Embarrass, WI. She graduated from Randolph High School. On September 12, 1940, she was united in marriage to Clifford Dykstra in Friesland. Cordula was a member of First Reformed Church in Friesland, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and served in various women’s ministries. She was a local 4-H club founder and member of the Columbia County Right to Life chapter and Columbia County Homemakers. Her hobbies included playing cards, especially Euchre, playing Scrabble, reading and playing piano. Cordula will always be remembered for her “blue ribbon fudge” and her unending love for her family.

Cordula is survived by her children, Dennis (Louise) Dykstra of Friesland, Joyce (Dallas) Stratman of Caledonia, MI, Stan (Sissy) Dykstra of Williamsburg, VA, Terry (Dede) Dykstra of Friesland and Pam (Gary) Hagarty of Collinsville, IL; her daughter-in-law, Marcia Dykstra of Friesland; her grandchildren, Jay (Carrie) Dykstra, Julie (Mike) Barrett, Jon (Rachel) Stratman, Derek (Ellen) Stratman, Allison (Phillip) Drinkwater, Kurt Dykstra, Nicole (Travis) Trafka, Neil (Wendy) Dykstra, Andrew (Hyejin) Dykstra, Shawn Hagarty, Eric Hagarty and Heather (Robb) France; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rose (Ed) Horton of Cambria; her sister-in-law, Sally Treptow of CA; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford; her son, Larry in 2013, her grandson, Paul, and four brothers : Earl, William, Robert, and Richard Treptow.

A Funeral Service for Cordula will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Reformed Church, 107 E. Winnebago St., Friesland with Rev. Rob Ford officiating. Burial will be at Friesland Cemetery, Village of Friesland. Visitation will take place on Thursday, prior to the service at church, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
