Georgene Margaret (Rennock) Yelk, 81, of Lowell was called to heaven on May 27, 2015 after a courageous battle against cancer. Her first concerns were directed toward her husband and family. Her joy in life was her unconditional love and care for others.

She was the master holiday maker with Christmas being the highlight of the year. Her wish was to give her family one last traditional Christmas. She pulled it off perfectly with her usual grace and strength.

Jean was a wife and mother first. She was there for grandchildren, and great grandchildren encouraging and celebrating their successes. She never missed a birthday and knew the individual taste of each family member.

She actively participated in all aspects of running the farm while raising six kids. Jean owned and operated Z & G Calf-a-teria in the late 70’s until the early 90’s. She was an active member at Holy Family Catholic Church where she was involved with the Altar Society, funeral luncheons, and fish fries.

She had a green thumb which was obvious by her large gardens and flowerbeds which she thoroughly enjoyed. She and her husband grew so many fruits and vegetables they decided to sell their produce at the local farmers market.

Jean was an animal lover and enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, canning, going on gambling trips, traveling with her husband, Brett Favre and watching NASCAR. She had a natural ability to spot a bargain like no one else. She went to rummage sales before they were fashionable.

Georgene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Zeno; six children, Karen (Dave) Christianson, Margie (Charlie) Kline, Janet (Michael) Yelk-Kenitz, Doris (Bill) Yelk-Wilberg, Donny (Lori) Yelk and Ken Yelk. She is further survived by eleven grandchildren, Paul (Laura), Frank, and Gary; Nathan, K.C., and Donnie; Emily and Colin; Willie; Ed (Amber) and Karlene; eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws; brothers, Alfred in infancy, Edward, William, Harvey “Tony”, Robert “Bob”, Louie “Pete” Stanley “Jim”, and Alexander “Bud”; sisters, Myrtle “Pat” Marson and Lucille Reed.

The family would like to thank all of Georgene’s Hillside Hospice team for their exceptional care.

The visitation will be at Holy Family Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Tuesday at 12:00 noon with Fr. Michael Erwin officiating. Burial will be at Lowell Cemetery.
