Obituary: Thomas “Tom” R. Vinz

Thomas “Tom” R. Vinz, age 62 of Dalton, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Tom was born on March 14, 1952 in Portage, WI to Morris and Lila (Schultz) Vinz Sr. He graduated from Markesan High School and enjoyed a lifetime of farming. He also worked at PMI in Markesan for several years. Tom was a member of the Dalton Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed being a part of the team that won many trophies for the water battles. He was the Superintendent of the Green Lake County Fair and was also a member of First Congregational Church in Dalton. He enjoyed showing beef cattle at various area fairs, hunting, fishing and gambling at Ho-Chunk.

Tom is survived by his three brothers, Morris (Leta) Vinz Jr. of Dalton, Alan (Cathy) Vinz and Steve (Kristi) Vinz, both of Markesan. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and other relatives.

A Memorial Service for Tom will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan with Rev. Brenda Grams officiating. A Memorial Gathering will be held prior to the service at Cornerstone, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Dalton.
