Obituary: Sharon E. Darge

Sharon E. Darge, age 73, died on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.

The memorial gathering will be at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 300 West Street in Beaver Dam, on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 p.m. The memorial service will follow at the church on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Seth Dorn officiating.

The former Sharon Ethel Bender was born on November 30, 1940 in Madison, Wisconsin to Harland R. and Ethel (Schultz) Bender. She was a 1958 graduate of Mayville High School. On July 19, 1958 she was united in marriage with Frederick M. Darge at St. John’s Church in Mayville. Sharon enjoyed camping and crochet needle work. She also enjoyed playing cards and computer games, trapshooting, traveling, crafting, reading and bowling. Sharon was a Cub-Scout Den mother for one year and while spending winters at her home in Tucson, Arizona, she was one of the organizers of their Senior Olympics Program. Sharon worked at Mayville Engineering Company for several years.

Survivors are her children, Thomas (Suzanne) Darge, June (Efrain) Morales, Kathy (Dean) Arndt, and Mark (Chris) Darge; ten grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; stepmother, Sue Ann Bender; brothers, Richard (Margaret) Bender, Lloyd (Helen) Bender, Gerald Bender, Wayne (Angie) Bender, Robert (Joyce) Bender, Gary (Diane) Bender, Gene Bender, and Timothy (Connie) Bender; brother-in-law, Dennis Darge; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Orville “Red” Gensmer; sisters, Ellen Schaeffer, Sheila Williams, Carol Gensmer and Esther Hunter; half-brother, Kenneth Bender; brother-in-law, Darrell Darge; and her husband Fred on September 1, 2012.
