Obituary: Robert P. “Buck” Sabatke

Robert P. “Buck” Sabatke, 84, of Horicon passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Robert Paul was born the son of Paul and Myrtle (Kramer) Sabatke on September 20, 1929 in Juneau.  His father Paul preceded him in death at a young age and his mother Myrtle was married to Elmer Wagner who together raised Robert and his siblings.  Robert was a graduate of Juneau High School.  He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  For 41 years, he was employed as a surveyor for Dodge County until his retirement. 

Buck had a love of the outdoors where his hobbies included rock and gem collecting as well as metal detecting.  He was a member of the Lake Sinissippi Improvement District. He especially loved his home on the Rock River where he was able to raise his children and enjoy the water. 

Robert is survived by his wife, Barbara of St. Louis Park, MN; his children: Deb (Jeff) Janke of St. Louis Park, MN and Andrew (Karen Anderson) Sabatke of Lake Mills, WI; his brother, Don Sabatke of McFarland; his grandchildren: Jessica, Tim and Steve Janke and Jon Sabatke; his great grandchild: Zoe; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal father, Paul, his step-father, Elmer, his mother, Myrtle; and his siblings.

It was Robert’s wish that no formal funeral services take place and a private family service will be held at Lowell Cemetery at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lake Sinissippi Improvement District.
