Emrys F. Kohn, age 79, formerly of Cambria, died Monday, October 19, 2015 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
A memorial gathering will be held at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 North Crystal Lake Road in Beaver Dam, on Monday, October 26, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow beginning at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Seth Dorn officiating. Those attending are encouraged to wear Packer, Badger, or NASCAR clothing to honor Emrys’ love of sports.
Emrys was born on February 17, 1936 in Portage, Wisconsin to the late Floyd and Mary (Albrecht) Kohn. He graduated from Cambria High School in 1954 and went to work at Rausch Chevrolet Garage in Cambria. On April 23, 1966, Emrys was united in marriage with Rita Dolgner at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pardeeville. Emrys worked as head of maintenance at Cambria-Friesland High School and also drove school bus for 50 years. Emrys also served on the Cambria Fire Department for 38 years and drove ambulance for many years. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid Green Bay Packer, Wisconsin Badger, and NASCAR fan. Emrys had been a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Cambria where he served several terms on the church council and also served as both president and treasurer; he was currently a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Kohn of Beaver Dam; a son, Kevin Kohn (Sue Sherman) of Arlington; a granddaughter, Chelsey (Josh) Kircher; a grandson, Cory Kohn (Tracy Frederiksen); very special great grandson, Cayden Kircher; sister-in-law, Ramona Gleiter of Pardeeville; special friend Jodie Clavey of Cambria; other relatives and friends. Emrys was preceded in death by his parents.
If lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in in Emrys Kohn’s name to Hillside Hospice, St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, or UW Hospital Comprehensive Stroke Program.
