Kenneth M. Jensen, age 89, of Beaver Dam, died Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Stratman officiating.
Kenneth Marshall Jensen was born on June 29, 1927 in Waupaca, Wisconsin to the late Jens Frederick and Elna O. (Peterson) Jensen. He was baptized and became a child of God at Trinity Lutheran Church. Upon graduation from Waupaca High School, Ken joined the Merchant Marines. On March 21, 1964, he was united in marriage with JoAnn Dorothy Kluender; they had a daughter, Sharon, in 1965. Ken moved his family to Fox Lake and then to Beaver Dam where he worked for Pepsi Cola, Luken Lumber, and he franchised and sold Brownberry Bread. He went on to be a self-employed carpenter in the Beaver Dam area and used those skills to build his own home in South Beaver Dam.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, JoAnn; his daughter, Janyce Jensen-Priewe (Jason) of Lowell; granddaughter, Jasmyne Jensen of Beaver Dam; and great grandchildren, Jaidyn Marshall Jensen and Alayna Rose Holland; and his sister, Eleanor Peterson of Waupaca. He is further survived by his children, Kent (Julie) Jensen of Arena and their children Kate (Brendan) Froehl and Andy (Ashley) Jensen; Susan Jensen of Mesa, AZ and her children, Christine (Rod) Lynd and Debra (Lance) Petrasek; and Robert (Valerie) Jensen of Las Vegas; great grandchildren, Dakota and Erika Lynd, Mackenzie and Colton Petrasek, Max and baby Jensen, and Owen, Levi, and baby Froehl. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sharon Lehmann; his brothers, Everett (in WW II) and LaVern; several brothers-in-law, and a niece.
The joy of his life was his two closest great grandchildren, Papa’s girl Alayna and his buddy, Jaidyn.
