Marvin E. Kienast, 69, formerly of Beaver Dam went to his eternal home on Sunday, March 26, 2017. He passed away at the Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
A visitation for Marvin will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until noon at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam with a funeral service to begin at noon with the Rev. Jonathan Szczesny officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens with graveside military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #157, Horicon, Wisconsin.
Marv was born on May 7, 1947 in Beaver Dam the son of Eugene and Dorothy Kienast. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon. He attended St. Stephen School for eight years and graduated from Horicon High School in 1965.
He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Air Force from 1966 until 1970. He loved playing the accordion and taught the instrument while still in high school and had a small band for most of his life. He retired from John Deere Horicon in 2008 and it was said he would bleed green. Marv was extremely PROUD to say he worked at Deere. He held various positions including Maintenance Supervisor and Senior Buyer.
Marv was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon for most of his life. He held several offices including Sunday School Superintendent for the district, Elder and Congregational Chairman. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 157, Horicon, Wisconsin.
He was chairperson of the Heart to Heart support group sponsored by the Beaver Dam Community hospital, a group that met monthly in support of heart attack victims.
Marv is survived by his five children: Jeffrey (Cherise) Kienast of Watertown, Kimberly Ritchie, Tammy Stiller both of Beaver Dam, Thomas (Nikki) Kienast of Michigan and Samantha Kienast of Mt. Horeb; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his sister Marilyn Mintzlaff of Watertown. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant grandson Gabriel, a best friend Lee Holman and other loved aunts and uncles.
Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon.
