Badger State Tractor Pullers open the Dodge County Fair

Fans will want to arrive early to reserve a seat in the grandstands for opening night of the Dodge County Fair. During their inaugural appearance in 2017, the Badger State Tractor Pullers (BSTP) lost to rain showers that made the track too slippery for competition. This year’s event should be well-attended and fans should arrive early. The truck and tractor pull is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 15. This will be a thrilling three-hour event for the entire family.

Badger State Tractor Pullers are the premier pulling association in the State of Wisconsin. With a large following, most of their events are scheduled throughout the Madison, Wisconsin area. Their events draw in local competitors and bring participants from all over the state and the Midwest. Many BSTP members are among the best in the nation and are competitive nationally.

Seasoned and first-time tractor pull attendees will be wowed by the competition. The evening “pull” will showcase competitors on a unique two-track setting at the Dodge County Fair. Drivers will compete to see who can pull their sled the farthest on the double dirt tracks. Fans can support the competitors from the stands and get competitive during the measurements and “pull offs” as they occur. Vehicles will push over 25 mph, pulling sleds weighing over 40,000 pounds. Tractors will top over 3000 HP and diesel trucks will be exceeding over 2000 HP.

The tractor pull will include approximately seventy-five contenders with various pro stock tractors and some of the top-running diesel trucks in the country.  Each class will include ten to twenty competitors from all over the Midwest.  Classes competing; Pro-stock Tractor (PST), Limited Prostock Tractor (LPST), 540 Light Pro Tractor (540LP), Super Farm (SF), Light Limited Super Stock Tractor (LLSS), Limited Pro Diesel Truck (LPDT).

Tractor pull merchandise will be available throughout the grandstands. Unique souvenirs will be on sale for fans both young and old – including toy tractors.

The free fair concert series starts on Thursday, August 16th and runs through Saturday the 18th. The tractor pulls and all other events at the grandstands are all free with paid gate admission to the fair. Seating is available on a first-come, first serve basis. Attend the fair for only $5.40 per day with the purchase of a 2018 season ticket.  Daily gate admission is $7 before 12:00 pm; or $10 after 12:00 pm.  Children age nine and under receive free admission.  2018 season tickets are only $27 before August 15 and $35 at the gate.

The Badger State Tractor Pull Team uses portions of their ‘points fund’ to donate proceeds to the American Family Children’s Hospital at the end of each year. This is made possible by donations, raffles and merchandise sales. In the last seventeen years, BSTP has donated more than $550,000 to American Family Children’s Hospital and St. Jude to help find cures for children with cancer. The generous club remarkably donated over $70,000 in 2017 alone.
