Obituary: Ruby Elaine Voss

Ruby Elaine Voss, age 90 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Ruby was born on March 31, 1925 at the home of her parents in the Town of Fox Lake. She was child number 8 in a family of 11 children, the daughter of Herman and Elsa (Marohl) Drews. Ruby was baptized and confirmed at County Line Lutheran Church by Rev. William Staehling. On September 28, 1944, she was married to Roy W. Voss at the County Line Lutheran Church in the town of Fox Lake by Rev. Karl Herbener. She attended Lake Emily Grade School and graduated from Randolph High School in 1943 as salutatorian of her class. She was a lifelong resident of the Beaver Dam area. Ruby was Senior Clerk in the Accounting Department at Wisconsin Power & Light Co. and retired in July, 1988. She was a member of the Alliant Energy Retiree Group and also the Local Low Voltage Club. Ruby was a longtime member of the Beaver Dam Country Club and enjoyed golfing for many years. At age 75, Ruby had a hole-in-one on Hole 11. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church and a former member of the Altar Guild. Ruby enjoyed her volunteer work at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Ruby is survived by her three children, Judy (Lee) Paul of Germantown, David of Beaver Dam, and Robert of Three Lakes; granddaughters, Jennifer (Damon) Gross of Germantown and Lauren (Eddie) Hernandez of Waukesha; great-grandchildren, Jaden Lee and Caleb James Gross and Nolan Paul and Harper Lucille Hernandez; one sister, Alyce Pinnola of Kenosha and sister-in-law, Ann Drews of Haughton, LA; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including lifelong friend Dorothy Buraczewski.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Roy on January 11, 2004; her parents; four sisters, Irene Tonn Udell, Dorothy Gibson, Adeline Loeffler Maersch and Elva Voss Mickelson; five brothers, Raymond, Martin, Frederick, Donald and Delmer Drews; brothers-in-law, Arthur Voss, Elmer Tonn, Arthur Udell, Willard Loeffler, William Maersch, Edward Firari, Alvin Toellner; sisters-in-law, Laurene, Olive, Elaine and Leora Drews, Lorraine Toellner and Dolores Firari.

Visitation for Ruby will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 300 West Street, Beaver Dam with Rev. Philip Heyer officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the Town of Trenton.
