Charles “Chuck” F. A. Ehlenfeldt, age 78 of Beaver Dam, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Chuck was born on September 29, 1935 in Beaver Dam to LeRoy and Vesta (nee Livermore) Ehlenfeldt. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1954. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1954-58 and graduated from University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse in 1963. He was united in marriage to Adeline “Toody” Roeseler in 1970 in Las Vegas. He served as the director of the YMCA, as well as Beaver Dam’s City Recreation Director and retired from Fox Lake Correctional. Chuck was a lifetime VFW member, as well as a member of the Fox Lake American Legion Post 521, Fraternal Order of Eagles for 35 years, and First Ev. Lutheran Church. He was also an avid sports fan, supporting the Packers, Badgers and Brewers, as well as the Beaver Dam Hockey Association. Chuck also enjoyed serving as Santa Claus for many years in the Jaycees parade.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Adeline “Toody” Ehlenfeldt of Beaver Dam; his children, Scott (Mary Beth) Ehlenfeldt of Beaver Dam, Mark (Patti) Ehlenfeldt of Beaver Dam, Susan (James) Nolan of Elizabeth, CO and Patrick (Stacey) Ehlenfeldt of New Richmond; his grandchildren, Amber (Jeremy) Smith, Austin (Justine Koehoorn) Ehlenfeldt, Aaron Ehlenfeldt, Katie Ehlenfeldt, Ashley (Cody) Bird, Joshua Hussli, Jacob Nolan, Grant Ehlenfeldt and Morgan Ehlenfeldt; and his great-grandchild, Parker Ace Ehlenfeldt and one due in April. He is further survived by his sister, Carol Braemer, his sister-in-law, Alice Ehlenfeldt, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws; his brothers, Vernon “Bud” Ehlenfeldt and Robert “Red” Ehlenfeldt; his sister, Kay Gossfeld; his brothers-in-law, LeRoy Braemer and Robert Gossfeld; and his nephew, Bobby Gossfeld.
A Funeral Service for Chuck will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam with Rev. Terry Larson as officiant. Visitation will take place prior to the service at Cornerstone, beginning at 3:00 p.m. A luncheon will be served following the service at Cornerstone and inurnment will take place at Stone Cemetery in the town of Burnett at a later date.
Memorials in Chuck’s name may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or First Ev. Lutheran Church’s Radio Fund.
